Reports circulating have penned potentially significant numbers, but an official company statement sent to INN remains mum: “We do expect to reduce staff, however it is too early to tell exactly how many positions will be affected.”
The reasoning given behind the cuts boils down to an attempt to streamline business operations by “creating a simpler, more efficient and flexible company.”
The Hartford adds that it is not ruling out complementary hires and transfers: “We will also continue to hire in growth areas and we are committed to redeploying current employees who may be affected by reductions into these growth areas as much as possible. This should reduce the total number of displaced employees.”
