MassMutual Names Lucido Chief Compliance Officer

Springfield, Mass. — MassMutual Financial Group announced the appointment of Bradley Lucido as chief compliance officer, succeeding Margaret Sperry, SVP and chief compliance officer, upon her retirement on July 1, 2008, after 27 years with the company.

Lucido is currently a VP and associate general counsel responsible for all regulatory matters at MassMutual's investment management affiliate Babson Capital Management LLC. He now joins MassMutual as a SVP with responsibility for oversight of ethics, compliance and governance programs, policies and procedures across the MassMutual Financial Group companies.

He will report directly to the chairman of the company's audit committee, MassMutual Director William Ellis, and administratively to EVP and general counsel Mark Roellig. In his role as Chief Compliance Officer, Lucido will work directly with MassMutual's board of directors, the audit committee, and Chairman, President and CEO Stuart Reese. Lucido also will chair the organization's corporate compliance council, responsible for the integrated framework of ethics and compliance activities throughout MassMutual Financial Group.

Since coming to MassMutual Financial Group in 2006, Lucido led a team of attorneys and law professionals responsible for providing legal support on all regulatory, compliance and corporate governance matters at Babson Capital. Prior to joining Babson Capital, Lucido served as a first VP and senior counsel at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, Plainsboro, N.J., which he had joined in 1995.

"Brad is an experienced senior executive with in-depth expertise in regulatory and compliance matters, both within the financial services and insurance industries, and brings a broad range of knowledge to his new position," Roellig says. "His appointment reflects MassMutual's existing high-quality talent pool with substantial internal expertise that is available to fill important management positions within the company. It also underscores our commitment to the very best compliance practices and the highest ethical conduct. I am confident Brad will continue to evolve and improve on the already outstanding compliance and governance systems that Margaret Sperry helped us build."
