MassMutual Promotes Three as Senior VPs

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. has promoted three executives to senior VP positions.

Scott Reed has been named senior VP of U.S. insurance group business and technology solutions. MassMutual says Reed is responsible for the business and technology solutions team in the company's U.S. Insurance Group. This group provides and operates all technology and systems for MassMutual's suite of protection and accumulation products, including life insurance, disability income insurance, executive benefits, long-term care insurance and annuities, and its distribution systems, broker-dealer and trust company. During the last three years under his leadership, the team has delivered an aggressive strategic portfolio of initiatives to enhance the company's business infrastructure and positioned it for future growth.

Michael McKenzie has been named senior VP of retirement services operations. MassMutual says McKenzie is responsible for all recordkeeping processes and delivery of services for the Retirement Services division, which offers products and services for corporate, union, nonprofit and governmental employers' defined benefit, defined contribution and nonqualified deferred compensation plans. He has oversight of the division's new business implementation, ongoing account management, plan change processing, ERISA consulting services, and Participant Information Center.

Heather Smiley has been named senior VP of retirement services marketing. Smiley is head of strategic marketing for the Retirement Services division, says MassMutual, which includes plan sponsor communication consulting services, advertising and public relations, web portals and tools, market research, competitive intelligence and employee communications. Under her leadership, MassMutual has received a record number of industry awards for its advertising and marketing programs to advisors, plan sponsors and participants, and its RetireSmart participant website was named Outstanding Website by the Web Marketing Association.
