Millenials Won't Say No to Insurance IT Jobs: Progressive Survey

Though insurance is getting greyer, even in the technology department, a new survey of IT job seekers from Progressive offers a glimmer of hope.

Four in 10 of the 1,000 millenials polled by Wakefield Research on the insurance carrier's behalf said that the insurance industry offers "excellent" opportunity in IT, behind only banking and healthcare industries.

The survey also found that 82 percent of millennials interested in IT are willing to relocate for a job they’re interested in. And, the work is just as important as the compensation: 81 percent said they would accept a less attractive compensation package to do work they were more passionate about. Flexibility is also more important to millenials than raw salary; 58 percent said they would take less money if they could work remotely.

"By and large what we found is that millennials interested in IT want a job that allows them flexibility and growth opportunities, and which inspires them," said Lynley Williams, recruiting director for Progressive. "Some of the things our tech employees tell us they like best about Progressive are our college campus-like atmosphere; our risk, learn and grow culture; and our dedication to continuous innovation – one example of that is the Business Innovation Garage we opened on-campus this year.”
