Mobile Tech, PAS, Product Development Highlight ACORD LOMA Announcements

The 2011 ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum began to take shape Sunday as vendors brought a variety of wares and services to the conference press event, concentrating on familiar themes of policy administration and insurance product development, while putting a bit more emphasis on mobile technologies than has been seen in previous years.

In mobile technology news, Millbrook announced the launch of MiAgents, an iPad app designed to optimize agency relationships, the Exton, Pa. vendor said. “MiAgents is the first mobile app in the insurance industry to truly transform agency relationship management by dramatically enhancing insight into agency performance while turning anecdotal perceptions into actionable data,” said Millbrook.

L&T Infotech, meanwhile, launched its MoST-i (Mobile Strategy for Insurance) framework, which is aimed at accelerating adoption of mobile applications. The framework is designed to help insurance companies incorporate a mobile strategy into their business and IT operations, the Mumbai, India-based vendor said. The product provides information foundation, consulting methodology and an adoption toolkit.

CSC, Falls Church, Va., introduced the new 2Work family of “role-based mobile apps”. The apps are pre-packaged and customizable, the company said, and are designed to help insurance professionals “harness the benefits of location-aware, real-time and secure tablets and smartphones.” The new apps include a tablet app for insurance claims adjusters, 2Work for Adjusters, initially built for the BlackBerry Playbook tablet, said CSC.

In the policy admin arena, Exigen Insurance Solutions announced the addition of business intelligence capabilities to its Exigen Suite of core systems for policy administration, billing and claims. According to the San Francisco-based company, Exigen Dynamic Analytics provides “out-of-the-box data warehouse and reporting capability that eliminates the need for expensive standalone systems.” The new BI capabilities were said to deliver “key metrics in real time as a single version of the truth.”

Meanwhile, OneShield Inc. announced the release of Dragon 4.19, the latest version of its policy management solution that “supports all lines of business and automates the entire value chain.” Functional enhancements in the new version include increased large schedules processing capabilities, enhanced search ability to endorsement processing and increased configuration options for schedule validation, said Westborough, Mass.-based OneShield.

Duck Creek Technologies Inc. released Product Studio, which it said is the core of a product development suite designed to give insurance product managers control of all aspects of the product development and maintenance process, “freeing technical resources to focus on technical tasks.” The new product lifecycle management tool “dramatically reduces the time to develop, maintain and modify any line of business,” said Duck Creek, based in Bolivar, Mo.

The Innovation Group, Farmington, Conn., launched its newly “re-architected Innovation Insurer suite and a new business model leveraging the platform to create competitive business processes for insurers. The new product version “is designed to help insurers rapidly adapt to cyclical business changes, build and deliver innovative products, services and real-time access and enable multiple distribution channels,” the company said.
