Nationwide shakes up marketing, innovation strategy

Nationwide has named a new marketing leader and restructured around innovation strategy.

Ramon Jones will take over the CMO role after 19 years of service to Nationwide. Reporting to CEO Kirt Walker, he has responsibility forNationwide’s brand and marketing strategy, advertising, social media, corporate communications and creative services. He replaces Terrance Williams, who is leaving the company later this year. Jones had been Financial Services Marketing leader.

“Ramon is well-prepared to assume the role of chief marketing officer,” saiWalker. “During his nearly two decades at Nationwide, he has held numerous leadership roles in the business and in marketing that make him uniquely qualified to promote and protect the Nationwide brand and position him to drive further business success.”

In addition to Jones' appointment, Mike Mahaffey will take on additional roles as Chief Strategy Officer New responsibility includes "building upon a strong, technology-focused foundation, including our venture capital initiatives, strategic partnerships with companies like Amazon, and new platforms like the recently-announced Spire, a digital insurance platform for self-reliant millennials," Walker added.
