New York Life Installs New Mobile Security Network

New York Life Insurance Company has implemented a mobile security network from MobileIron and Skycure that aims to make employees and licensed agents more agile when protecting customer data.

New York Life will use MobileIron to secure and manage corporate and employee-owned smartphones and tablets. Skycure’s Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) will also detect and protect against malware and network-based attacks, according to the life insurer.

Skycure is currently used on employees' corporate-owned devices and soon will be installed on licensed agents’ personal phones. New York Life's workers frequently use corporate and personal mobile devices to access corporate email and customer information via a custom web portal.

"We see the mobile device as just another computing platform and we needed a way to replicate our desktop controls in the mobile environment," said Steven Johnson, head of data protection & cybersecurity services, enterprise technology group, New York Life, in a statement."Skycure integrated with MobileIron helps us be both proactive and reactive about security."
