EPAM NAMED ITO LEADER

EPAM Systems Inc., a global software engineering outsourcing provider with development centers in Central and Eastern Europe, was awarded the No. 1 position in the “Emerging European Markets” category of the 2008 Global Services 100 ranking. The ranking is a compilation of the world’s most innovative service providers, selected on the basis of a research study conducted by Global Services Media and outsourcing analysts at San Ramon, Calif.-based neoIT.

EPAM, which names CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Co. and BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota among its insurance customers, also is the first, and the sole software engineering services provider named among the global Top 10 “Best Performing IT Services Providers,” rated 8th overall, according to the company. With development locations in Central and Eastern Europe, EPAM has been featured in the annual Global Services 100 ranking since its inception in 2005.

AIIM AND ASTM PUBLISH BEST PRACTICES GUIDE

AIIM and ASTM International, a voluntary standards development organization, announced the publication of the Best Practices Guide—PDF Healthcare (AIIM/ASTM BP-01-2008). The document describes a proposed, voluntary, industry-wide reference tool and guideline to describe the features and functionality of the Portable Document Format (PDF) for the healthcare industry.

The guide is designed to facilitate a means by which healthcare information is captured, exchanged, preserved and protected so healthcare system participants can use the well-known and trusted PDF specification as the electronic container of the information.
