Pegasystems Partners with Vormetric on Data Security

Pegasystems, a provider of business process management (BPM) and customer relationship management (CRM) software, has standardized on Vormetric Data Security in an attempt to shore up its data security practices and compliance requirements.

According to Pegasystems, Vormetric was selected for its ability to automate Pegasystems' data encryption within a leading Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud provider as well as to increase the processing speed at which Pegasystems can encrypt its volume within a cloud infrastructure.

“Our partnership with a recognized data security expert like Vormetric gives us a distinct competitive advantage,” said Jim Walker, global head of Pega Cloud Operations and Security. “Our customers are eager to move to the cloud and protecting their data is a foremost concern. And, our government clients are pleased that we’re using a solution that is already relied upon by major federal agencies.”

Pegasystems’ cloud offering has grown significantly over the past few years, the company said, and managing key rotation processes was becoming unwieldy. Therefore, Pegasystems believed it needed to simplify its encryption approach with a scalable solution that could keep pace with the company’s growth.

Pegasystems deployed multiple Vormetric Data Security Manager appliances for its global cloud footprint, and is leveraging Vormetric’s Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 Level 3 certified solution to meet the requirements of government clients. The solution is being deployed globally across several hundred cloud server instances and will be used to protect applications and databases, including databases which could be housing personally identifiable health and financial information that is affected by compliance rules such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, as well as other country-specific data breach laws, such as the UK Data Protection Act.
