Prudential Financial Appoints Several New Chief Investment Officers

Prudential Financial Inc. has appointed Scott Sleyster as chief investment officer, reporting to vice chairman Mark Grier. In addition, Tim Schmidt will assume the role of chief investment officer for the U.S. Businesses, and Steve Napoli will become chief investment officer for International Insurance. Prudential also announced that Takehiko Fukuda has been appointed as deputy president of Gibraltar Life Insurance Co. in Japan.

Prudential says Sleyster joined Prudential in 1987 and has held positions in the areas of retirement and investment products, guaranteed products, employee benefits and private placement. Schmidt joined Prudential in July 2010 as a managing director. Previously, he served in a number of senior leadership roles at MetLife.

Napoli joined Prudential in 1986, and, most recently, was managing director for Prudential International Insurance, according to Prudential. Fukuda joined Prudential in 2005, serving as chief investment officer of Gibraltar and then chief investment officer for International Insurance. He previously held positions at Manulife Financial and Mitsui Mutual Life Insurance Co.
