Joining Allianz Life, MetLife Inc. and Unum, Prudential Financial, the second-largest U.S. life insurer, is pulling out of the individual long-term care (LTC) insurance business, the company reports.

Economic uncertainty and associated low interest rates have been ascribed as chief reasons insurers are steadily backing out of LTC coverage; growing costs are also a factor.
