S.C. BlueCross Names Two Technology VPs

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has promoted Ravi Ravindra and Jeff Whitesides as VPs of information systems. Ravindra will oversee technology infrastructure, while Whitesides will oversee application software.

BlueCross says Whitesides has 27 years of information systems experience, the last 20 of which have been with BlueCross. He has been responsible for the enterprise application architecture for all mainframe and web-developed applications. Prior to BlueCross, he worked for the S.C. State Treasury Department and the S.C. comptroller general’s office.

Ravindra has 26 years of information systems experience, the last nine with BlueCross, says the company. He implemented Linux technology to host most of the BlueCross group of companies’ enterprise web applications in a virtual environment. Prior to joining BlueCross, he served as global chief technology adviser for Siemens AG.

In their new positions, Ravindra will take on responsibility for negotiation of contracts for infrastructure, and Whitesides will lead negotiation of contracts for application software, BlueCross says.
