State Farm Debuts iPad App to Help People Move

Having already rolled out numerous helpful apps and widgets over the past year, including a distracted driving widget and mobile deposit through its banking arm for Android mobile users last Fall, State Farm has now set its sights closer to home.

Yesterday the insurer announced a new application for the Apple iPad intended to help people with their next move. The MoveTools http://www.statefarm.com/moving app is a relocation planning and household inventory assistant, and is available immediately for free download.

With MoveTools, users can customize a weekly moving checklist to help plan their move and then create an inventory of their possessions, State Farm says. Users can then create and print "smart labels" with digital QR codes, which can be read by smartphones with barcode reading applications. By scanning the label on a box, users can read a list of what's packed inside.

"MoveTools blends innovation with utility in something that's useful to people during one of the biggest moments in their lives," says Patty Gaumond, assistant VP of Enterprise Internet Solutions at State Farm. "Leveraging new technology is just one of the ways we're being there for our customers."
