State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company has selected Information Builders' business intelligence and analytics suite to improve data reporting for doctors and surgeons, the companies announced Thursday.

Based in Brentwood, Tennessee, SVMIC serves as a medical professional liability insurer to more than 19,000 physicians in the Southeast. The company agreed to terms with Information Builders on the confidence its new software would bring actionable data to its underwriting, claims, and risk management professionals.

"We understand the importance of accurate data, and we needed a BI vendor with expertise in standardizing, normalizing, and generating business-ready insurance data in order to derive impactful insights," said Tom Werner, director of actuarial services at SVMIC, in a statement.

Other vendors considered by SVMIC were either too focused on the needs of large insurance carriers or had limited tools for day-to-day data integration, the companies said. SVMIC joins Erie Insurance, Amerisure Insurance, and Farm Bureau Insurance as Information Builders customers.
