The Hanover Insurance Group Names Richard Lavey President, Personal Lines

The Hanover Insurance Group, a provider of property and casualty insurance, has appointed Richard W. Lavey as president, personal lines. A 25-year veteran in the insurance industry, Lavey will oversee all aspects of the company's personal lines business, which markets homeowners, automobile and related insurance coverages to individuals and families, the company said.

Eppinger, president and CEO at The Hanover, said. "We have every confidence he will bring outstanding leadership and energy as he leads our talented personal lines team, enabling us to deliver on our promises to our agent partners, their customers, and all of our stakeholders."

In addition to his new role, Lavey will continue to serve as the company's chief marketing officer, responsible for marketing activities and initiatives across the organization. Since joining The Hanover in 2004, Lavey has served in several key leadership positions in the field and home office, including president, field operations, chief marketing officer, and president of the company's Northeast Region. He has played lead roles in the formation of the company's unique field distribution model, marketing and sales capabilities, while driving many of the company's growth initiatives, according to The Hanover. Prior to joining The Hanover, Lavey held several strategic marketing roles at The Hartford and Travelers.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Lavey earned his master's degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School.
