What's the origin story of the company?
Ocean Ledger is a spinout from the German Aerospace Centre, built on eight years of dedicated research and development. In January 2024, we commercialized our geospatial insight capabilities for coastal environments, introducing a novel, scalable and differentiated approach to enhance coastal monitoring and risk management for public and private sector stakeholders.

Since January 2024, our product has been going through iterative processes to improve its modelling capabilities, pushing the boundaries of insights into the coastal environment.

Paige Roepers, CEO, brings together a background in marine biology with experience in investment banking and strategic consulting, offering a unique blend of scientific insight and financial expertise.

A ledger is a record-keeping system used to track and organize information. With the ocean at the center of our focus, Ocean Ledger represents a structured, transparent source of data, sharing granular insights into the morphology of our coastlines worldwide.

What pain points is the technology trying to solve?
Current datasets for analyzing shoreline movements and the resulting trends in erosion, storm surge and sea-level rise are often outdated. This limits informed decision-making for risk assessment, pricing and underwriting. Consequently, clients struggle to make confident decisions without clear insights into the underlying drivers and the transparent evolution of uncertainties.
What funding rounds has the company had?
Ocean Ledger raised a pre-seed round of £900,000 ($1.1M) in January 2025 from its principal investors, Ananda Impact VC and Silverstrand Capital.
What's ahead?
Ocean Ledger is developing the next-generation digital elevation model to deliver more precise insights into the coastal environment. Our solution is data-source agnostic and supports multiple resolutions and granularities, combined with historical data to pinpoint the drivers of change. By providing detailed information on coastlines, defenses and land cover, we enable transparent, holistic and flexible implementation of geospatial insights.
