Three Insurers Recognized for Customer Service

J.D. Power and Associates has recognized Erie Insurance, Auto-Owners Insurance and USAA as 2012 Customer Service Champions. The three insurers are among only 50 companies in the United States to earn the distinction this year. To qualify for inclusion, companies must excel within their own industry and stand out among leading brands in 15 major industries evaluated by J.D. Power.

"Consumer expectations have heightened since the onset of the recession," said Gina Pingitore, chief research officer at J.D. Power and Associates. "While value is important, consumers want more than simply the lowest price or a product that is just good enough. They expect a superior product that is delivered in a compelling presentation, through fast and easy-to-understand processes that are supported by responsive and concerned people. In addition, the price must be perceived as fair and competitive."

According to the report, J.D. Power evaluated more than 800 brands. Those on the list were identified based on customer feedback, opinions and perceptions, gathered primarily from J.D. Power's syndicated research in 2011.

In a seperate statement, Erie noted that it also was recognized on the list of Ward's 50 group of top-performing insurance companies. The Ward's 50 award analyzes the financial performance of 3,000 P&C companies as well as nearly 800 life and health insurance companies, Erie added.
