UniCare Launches Enhanced Member Site

Chicago - UniCare has launched a newly redesigned and improved secure member Web site designed to provide members and their families more streamlined access to personalized online health and benefit information. The changes make the site easier to navigate by requiring fewer clicks in order for members to access information specific to their health care needs, according to UniCare. The site now provides members easier access to personal online health information through single sign-on log-in capabilities. In addition, if members have misplaced or forgotten their username, they can request it online without having to call customer service support.

"This Web improvement gives our members relevant information when they need it, at a time when they're increasingly becoming more engaged in health care decisions," says David Fields, president of UniCare. "By making this information more accessible for our members, they'll be able to seek better quality, more cost effective medical care."

These enhancements build on the UniCare Web site, which already offers personalized medical, dental, vision and pharmacy claims activity information and enables members to track health care expenses throughout the year. Members can also order identification cards, print online benefits statements and select physicians and hospitals.

Through a strategic partnership with WebMD, members have access to one of the world's largest online medical library; and Subimo provides access to a variety of tools to help consumers estimate the cost of medical services, prescription drugs and quality, safety and cost information for hospitals in a given area.

"With a personalized, comprehensive summary of benefits at their fingertips, members can see how their benefits are being applied and more closely track out-of-pocket costs, deductibles and expenses for themselves and their dependents," says Fields. "These convenient, easy-to-understand online services will help our members live healthier lives and become more informed and confident health care consumers."
