Wharton Research Data Services Adds Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S Guidance Data

Wharton Research Data Services, an Internet-based data research service, has added the Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S Guidance to its data offerings. Wharton Research Data Services, a part of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, offers access to more than 200 terabytes of data for the accounting, banking, economics, finance, insurance, marketing and statistics disciplines.

Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S Guidance enables researchers to compare analyst and management expectations and comments on company performance, and ensures that researchers are using the same accounting basis for consistent analysis. Guidance provides the user with comments directly from management about future expectations and complements earnings estimates, data used by every financial professional for earnings data.

Academics use the I/B/E/S Estimates and I/B/E/S Guidance together to form hypothesis in different directions. These result in conclusions that illustrate the strength of the product set.

I/B/E/S Guidance can offer insight into corporate management’s outlook for upcoming earnings results. The combination of the databases strengthens the Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) platform as a database for academic financial research.

“I/B/E/S Guidance is an ideal resource for business and academic researchers worldwide," said Robert Zarazowski, senior director of WRDS. “Offering more complete results for WRDS subscribers, I/B/E/S Guidance is an essential tool in the complex field of financial research.”
