(Bloomberg) -- XL Group Plc, the insurer increasing its concentration on property-casualty coverage, hired Kelly Lyles to lead its global business providing liability insurance for corporate directors, financial firms and professionals such as architects.
Lyles previously worked for American International Group Inc. and will be based in London, reporting to Greg Hendrick, chief executive officer of global insurance, Dublin-based XL said today in a statement.
XL CEO Mike McGavick has been recruiting from AIG as he increases the focus on property-casualty sales. This month, XL completed the sale of a life reinsurance operation to GreyCastle Holdings Ltd. for $570 million. Last year, he hired AIG’s David Miller as head of claims for international P&C.
“Attracting and keeping top industry talent is a critical part of our business,” Hendrick said in the statement. “As we continue to extend our professional liability capabilities globally, we’re excited to have someone of Kelly’s caliber.”
Lyles takes over the duties of Bernard Horovitz, who was appointed to the newly created role of senior vice president of insurance special projects.
She was head of specialty lines for AIG property-casualty in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region, and previously was the country manager in France for the New York-based company, according to the statement. Lyles graduated from Villanova University.
AIG had no comment, said Matt Gallagher, a spokesman for the insurer.
