XL Restructures International Primary Casualty Operations

The insurance segment of XL Group Plc. has restructured its International Primary Casualty business, which serves large corporations in Europe, including the United Kingdom, Asia, Australia and Latin America. The new structure includes four teams built around underwriting tasks and account types, and according to the company, underscores an emphasis on the client by providing increased responsiveness. The unit will contain four sections: Underwriting Large Corporates, Underwriting Complex Accounts, Underwriting Environmental Liability and Underwriting Management.

Underwriting Large Corporates is led by Reto Arrigoni, who moves to XL Group from Zurich. Arrigoni has more than 20 years of international experience in casualty underwriting and management roles. He will oversee most of the International Primary Casualty existing clients and seek growth through new products and cross-selling.

Underwriting Complex Accounts is led by Joachim Walch, who has 25 years of industry experience, 15 of which have been with XL Group. Walch will develop new client and broker relationships.

Underwriting Environmental Liability is led by Simon White, who, 15 years ago, was one of the first underwriters to provide exclusive environmental cover in the London market. Since then, White has helped XL Group become one of the leading providers of environmental coverage worldwide. He’ll seek to grow and expand this business through new product development and geographical expansion.

Underwriting Management is led by Michael Rüsch, who is responsible for a multi-faceted group that contributes to strategy and manages existing products and new product development.
