Zurich Global Corporate in North America (Zurich NA) has named Steve Rand as head of customer, distribution and marketing, effective March 13. Rand will be based in New York and will become a member of the Zurich NA executive team and Global Corporate’s customer, distribution and marketing leadership team. He will report to Dan Riordan, CEO of Zurich NA, and Valerie Butt, global corporate head of customer, distribution and marketing.
Zurich says Rand will be responsible for all facets of Zurich NA’s distribution sales and marketing activities with brokers, banks and emerging networks, and building long-lasting and profitable relationships with strategic customers. He will be the voice of key customers on the Zurich NA leadership team and will develop and lead the implementation of new profitable growth initiatives for Zurich NA.
Since joining the company in 1980, Rand has held a number of senior market-facing roles, including CEO of programs, president of commercial markets and head of customer & industry segments for Zurich North America Commercial. Since 2011, he has been serving an assignment in Switzerland as head of broker management for the general insurance business in Zurich. Rand succeeds Greg Maguire, who retired last month.
