P&C insurer Zurich North America was selected by Working Mother magazine as one of its “100 Best Companies for 2014.”

Zurich was recognized for leadership in establishing policies, programs and corporate culture that supports working moms. These include child care, flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave and advancement of women. Companies that made the list also were measured on access and usage of family friendly programs.

The Working Mother 100 Best Companies are not individually ranked and will be featured in the magazine’s October/November issue. Companies on the list are considered to be in the advancement of women via support of their need to integrate family and work. The companies were scored in six categories during the magazine’s assessment: paid time off and leaves, workplace profile, benefits, women’s issues and advancement, flexible work, and company culture and work-life programs.

“We are thrilled to honor the U.S. companies that put words into action and build family-friendly cultures on the foundation of thoughtful policies and effective programs,” said Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media. “Women now make up 50 percent of our workforce. We need to make sure they have the support to be outstanding moms as well as great employees."
