ACORD Welcomes Kellington

Pearl River, N.Y.–Insurance standards association ACORD has chosen John Kellington as senior vice president.

Kellington, a former Ohio Casualty Group and IBM executive, has a long relationship with ACORD having served on the ACORD board of directors and chaired the ACORD Standards Committee.

"John's unique background melds business and technology into a unique mixture that will enhance ACORD's standards and help spread them across the enterprise and around the world," says Gregory Maciag, president and CEO, ACORD. "Having worked with John on both the ACORD Board and on the Standards Committee, I've experienced first hand just how beneficial his knowledge and insights will be for ACORD."

In an era of SOA, BPM, Web services and enterprise architecture, the ability to know, understand and express how business and technology can work as a partnership is essential, Maciag added. "When you consider the impressive growth of ACORD over the past 10 years and our vision for the future, I could not think of a better person to open the next chapter for our standards,” Maciag says. “This is particularly true as ACORD standards continue to cross systems, cross borders and cross business products."

Kellington joined the ACORD Board in 2004 and served as chair of the ACORD Standards Committee following its formation later that same year. He also participated in the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum CIO Panel in 2006.

Prior to this appointment, Kellington served as the senior vice president and chief technology officer for Fairfield, Ohio-based Ohio Casualty Group, and was a member of their executive management team, responsible for all corporate technology initiatives. He is credited with the transformation of their technology into a state-of-the-art platform. During Kellington’s 18-year career at Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM, he held several positions including architect and principal for IBM Global Services' National Insurance Practice.
