AIG Picks Pollution Liability CEO

New York — American International Group Inc. has announced the promotion of Russell Johnston to president and CEO of AIG Environmental, a unit of AIG Commercial Insurance and one of the largest pollution liability insurance providers.

Johnston, who was the president of AIG Risk Management, succeeds Joseph Boren, who has left the company. He is to report to John Doyle, the president and CEO of AIG Commercial Insurance, the company said.

In a related move, AIG Environmental named Kimberly Hanna EVP and COO. She will report to Johnston.

Russell Johnston has worked for AIG since 1990, and been president of national accounts and president of domestic risk management in the company's risk management group.

Hanna has worked in AIG's Canadian operation since 1996. In 2000, she became a product line manager for AIG Environmental, and has held posts of increasing responsibility in the unit, including mostly recently as a SVP and chief underwriting officer.
