AIG Taps TIAA-CREF CIO to Lead Commercial Lines IT

AIG has named Annabelle Bexiga commercial insurance business information officer, a position with full resposibility for leading technology strategy and development.

Bexiga joins AIG from TIAA-CREF, where she had been CIO for several years until moving to a COO position last year. AIG corporate CIO Phil Fasano and commercial lines CEO John Doyle said her experience transforming TIAA-CREF's IT infrastructure over her tenure was instrumental in her selection to lead the AIG division.

"Annabelle ... brings invaluable IT and business acumen, experience, and leadership to AIG,” said Fasano. “I look forward to her strong leadership in this important role as we continue to develop strategies and business opportunities with a focus on using technology to better reach and interact with our clients.”

At TIAA-CREF, Bexiga led an initiative called IT Accelerate to shorten development cycles and increase speed to market for its products. She also led the IRIS (Information Resource Improvement Services) program to make back-end data more accessible to clients and associates by improving data warehousing and management, and increased the self-service capabilities at the financial services provider.

“We are delighted to welcome Annabelle to AIG,” Doyle added. “Technology is a key enabler for our commercial insurance strategy and it will help us achieve our vision to become our clients’ most valued insurer. In her role, Annabelle will bring her unique view of emerging technology trends to further AIG’s progress toward becoming a truly digital organization, with the aim of delivering products and services in a way that will be a differentiator for AIG.”

Before TIAA-CREF, Bexiga worked at Bain Capital, JP Morgan, and Deutsche Bank. She is based in New York.
