Blue Shield of California to Deploy Go-To-Exchange

In an effort to streamline participation in Covered California, the state-sponsored public health insurance exchange, Blue Shield of California will use the Go-To-Exchange platform from HealthPlan Services (HPS), a technology, sales, retention and administrative services provider for the insurance and managed care markets.

"The HPS solution enables us to implement a high quality customer-focused solution for processing exchange enrollment and billing, while providing us the flexibility to meet the demands of an evolving exchange population of new members,” said Lou Lombardo, VP, markets performance for Blue Shield of California. “Working with HPS also allows us to bring the most affordable service solution to our customers enrolling through the new California state exchange."

Go-To-Exchange is designed to enable state-HIX-participating organizations to meet technical and administrative demands of multiple state exchanges. Two platforms make up the entire Go-To-Exchange platform: ExchangeLink, which is designed to facilitate the technical connections necessary to link carriers to exchanges, and ServiceLink, designed to provide in-force administration, member billing, tax credit/subsidy collection, premium reconciliation and customer service.

Blue Shield of California, which serves more than 3.3 million members across California with a range of products including health, life, dental, vision and Medicare plans, will use the ExchangeLink platform to connect its customers to Covered California. And it will use ServiceLink to ensure administrative functions are streamlined and high-quality customer service is provided to its members.
