Cat Risk, Governance, Regulation Highlight Global Insurance Meeting

Chicago - The Windy City will host more than 500 attendees from 55 nations this weekend at the International Insurance Society's 42nd annual seminar.

The Chicago-based annual event, July 16 to July 19, is held in a different location each year, last year in Hong Kong. The Chicago meeting, "Insurance: Now and the Future -- Profile for a New Age," will bring together CEOs from leading carriers, consultants, regulators and industry analysts.

Ernst Csiszar, president and CEO of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, Alexandria, Va., is chairman of this year's meeting. Other notable attendees will include Patrick Kenny, president and CEO of the IIS; Edmund F. Kelly, chairman, president and CEO of Liberty Mutual Group, Boston; Karl Wittmann, a member of Munich-based Munich Re's board of management and chairman of the IIS board, Evan Greenberg, president and CEO of Hamilton, Bermuda-based Ace Ltd.; and Ram Kishore Joshi, chairman and managing director of General Insurance Corp. of India.

Keynote addresses delivered by Lawrence Lindsey, former assistant to President George W. Bush and director of the National Economic Council at the White House; and Christine Legarde, trade minister of France, lead off the meeting, followed by CEO panel and other discussions on catastrophe risk, enterprise risk management, ethics, and regulatory changes.

Founded in 1965, IIS is a nonprofit group with close to 1,000 members from 90 countries. The society promotes insurance education and research.
