CSC Releases Big Data Platform as a Service

CSC, an IT services and applications company, has added security, compliance, data infrastructure technologies, and cloud deployment options to its open-source Big Data Platform as a Service offering.

The CSC BDPaaS is designed to enable clients to get up and running in 30 days or less across cloud and dedicated architectures. The offering works on cloud infrastructures that include Amazon, CSC Cloud Solutions, RedHat OpenStack and VMware VSphere private clouds, the company said. CSC customers can use the ServiceMesh AgilityPlatform, which provides cloud management, governance, and security across public, private and hybrid clouds. CSC BDPaaS offers analytics and integrates with Hadoop, Ad-Hoc Query and Streaming analytics to support high volumes, high velocities and any type of data.

The insurance sector can benefit from CSC’s BDPaaS with ability to exploit previously untapped enterprise and machine generated data; scale up/down infrastructure; quick-start proofs of concept; ability to develop, test and deploy analytic models and applications; and support for HIPPA, PCI and other regulatory standards for applications with compliance requirements, CSC said.

The as-a-service offering takes a platform approach to big data and analytics requirements by integrating Hadoop, relational and streaming technologies to support high volumes of any type of data at any speed, IDC. CSC’s ability to offer and support a number of open-source and enterprise technologies on an integrated platform gives clients options to better address a wide variety of current and future big data use cases, IDC added.
