Devotion to Innovation

It seems that innovation is much talked about now. An Olympus Corp.- sponsored survey tracked the perspectives of 304 Fortune 1000 corporation executives on enterprise innovation. The vast majority of executives said enterprise innovation is extremely or very important for driving business growth, profitability, attracting and keeping talent, and brand prestige, in that order.

Executives in the October 2010 survey reported IT as being the most innovative function within executives' own companies during the past 10 years, and by far the most likely focal point for investment and continued innovation over the next two years.

The insurance industry represented only 10% of the respondents in this survey. But we don't have to look far to realize that IT indeed contributes heavily to innovation. For the fourth consecutive year, INN recognizes the best of the best with our INNovators Awards. Starting on page 27 you'll find information on nine innovative IT projects that made an impact on the winners' respective enterprise. The industry at large can learn from these leaders' stories, including their unique challenges, their devotion to excellence and their ability to "team up" for success.

To better serve our readers, the INN editorial team has also stepped up our commitment to innovation, delivering more information than ever via print and online mediums. We write so much about changing technology and recognize that times have changed-with those changes and the ability to conduct reader research, we have an understanding of how you prefer to receive information-in varied formats. While we recognize the value you place on the printed magazine-you can hold it in your hand and take it with you to places technology can't currently go-we're also devoted to providing you with information in many forms-podcasts, video, conferences, etc. Our website offerings follow that same innovation mandate, including digital-only issues of Insurance Networking News.
