Esurance, a San Francisco-based direct-to-consumer auto insurer, has unveiled an enhanced iPhone application for both its customers and car insurance shoppers.
Available at no cost in Apple's App Store, the Esurance mobile app has several features and is designed to enable customers to manage their policy with ease. It's also one of the first iPhone apps to provide car insurance quote estimates. The app offers online quote functionality so auto insurance shoppers can receive a quote estimate in approximately two minutes. The iPhone app then saves the quote, allowing the customer to purchase the policy over the phone.
iPhone users also can access the accident toolkit, which is packed with information on what to do if they're ever in an accident, and steps to take to be prepared for one.
Additionally, Esurance customers can now use the online repair-monitoring feature, which already was available on other mobile devices, through this iPhone app. Customers with a car in the shop are able to see daily photos of their repairs throughout the process. These photos can be shared instantly, and customers can contact the repair facility directly via e-mail or phone with any questions. They'll also be able to contact their dedicated claims rep right from the app.
"As the mobile market continues to evolve, consumers are seeking innovative ways to shop for and manage their auto insurance needs," says John Swigart, Esurance's chief marketing officer.
