Former Senator Encourages Health Care Reform Blog Participation

Washington - Former Sen. John Breaux hopes policy makers, health care experts and the American public will tune into and participate in a new blog on the Ceasefire on Health Care Web site, www.ceasefireonhealthcare.org.The Ceasefire on Health Care campaign's goal is finding bipartisan "common ground" agreements leading to market based, incremental change to the nation's health care system. The online forum is designed to supplement the Ceasefire podcast series and engage its participants in lively discussion about pressing health care reform trends and issues.

A new blog entry will be posted to the campaign Web site each Tuesday and Thursday. Topics covered in the blog include the uninsured crisis in America, the Medicare Modernization Act and health information technology.

In addition to launching the new blog, the Ceasefire campaign released its latest podcast episode in which Senator Breaux explores the implications of the Medicare Modernization Act and delivering quality health care to the public through a unique public/private alliance. This fifth podcast episode in the Ceasefire series is available for download at the campaign Web site and is also posted through Yahoo!, Google, Odeo, PodNova and iTunes. The podcast series is updated each Wednesday throughout the summer and fall, with each episode specifically focused on a different health care reform topic.

Future podcasts will feature commentary from participants in previous Ceasefire bipartisan forums, including former Senators Tom Daschle and Don Nickles; Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Gordon Smith (R-OR); former White House Press Secretaries Ari Fleischer and Mike McCurry; and later this fall, representatives from the AARP and the American Hospital Association.
