Greig Woodring Named IIS Chairman-Elect

Greig Woodring, president and CEO, Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), has been appointed chairman-elect of the International Insurance Society (IIS). The appointment was effective as of Jan. 1, 2013. Woodring succeeds the current IIS chairman, Norman Sorensen, who retired recently as chairman–international of Principal Financial Group.

Greig Woodring is president and CEO of RGA and sits on the board of directors, IIS said. Prior to being named president, Woodring served as executive VP of General American Life Insurance Co., now GenAmerica Financial, overseeing the reinsurance business. Prior to joining General American, he was an actuary at United Insurance Co.

IIS said Greig’s leadership has positioned RGA in the life reinsurance industry with about $2.9 trillion of life reinsurance in force and assets of $39.9 billion. RGA focuses primarily on life and health-related reinsurance solutions.
