John Hancock Brings Wearable-Powered Product to iPhone

John Hancock has announced that customers of its Vitality program can use Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch to meet the health-tracking requirements of the product.

The John Hancock Vitality app lets policyholders post and view their points and status, earn points by submitting prevention screenings and athletic events, and log health club workouts. It also integrates with Apple's HealthKit so that participants can complete their Vitality Health Review by accessing from the Health app -- which itself gathers data from the Apple Watch including real-time steps.

John Hancock Vitality unversal and term life insurance products allow policyholders to save on their premiums and get other perks by reporting health data to the carrier.

John Hancock also today announced a partnership with Synodex, a life insurance data company, to streamline its underwriting processes. "John Hancock's progressive underwriting capabilities partnered with Synodex's cutting-edge technology will further enhance our ability to deliver timely and competitive underwriting offers to our customers," said Susan Ghalili, Vice President and Chief Underwriter, John Hancock. "We are confident that a combination of Synodex services together with the licensing of Synodex's technology will allow us to not only review medical records more quickly, but also enhance the quality of our review process."
