New York, NY--MetLife announced that it's online employee benefits management portal, MetLink, received the 2004 E-Fusion award for Customer Service and Benefits Management.  This prominent industry award, presented at the AM Best Insurance and Technology Conference, is awarded to insurance companies and their affiliates for outstanding, resourceful uses of technology in the insurance industry.

MetLink is adopted to date by more than 17,000 corporate customers, brokers and third-party administrators who service more than 15 million employees. In 2004, MetLink doubled 2003 transactions to over 6 million, earning 96 percent satisfaction among corporate users, according to MetLife's 2004 Customer Satisfaction Survey.

The e-Business portal consolidates and tracks billing and payment information, lists account balances, handles claims status and provides access to billing statements, enrollment, and eligibility records for MetLife's group life, dental and disability products to name a few.  Initially launched in 1997, the MetLink portal was rearchitected in 2003 to a standard internet platform, including extensive use of web services that allowed for a rapid expansion of new features and added capability.

"MetLife is honored to be recognized by the industry for excellence in our e-benefits portal design," said Sachin Shah, vice president of Institutional eBusiness at MetLife. "Today's benefits managers must play an increasingly strategic role in benefits administration.  We are committed to providing benefits managers with a 24/7 online solution that enables them real-time access to accurate information and to reducing costs and increasing revenue through innovative uses of technology."

Criteria used to judge the winner included business value to the organization as it relates to return on investment, business value to users and customers as it relates to return on relationships and business value to the insurance industry as it relates to return on recognition.
