Munich Re, Slice Labs in Digital Distribution Partnership

Insurance startup Slice Labs has found a suitor to help it launch its coverage products for participants in the "on-demand economy," like Uber drivers and Airbnb renters.

Slice will partner with Munich Re to roll out a U.S. on-demand per-use insurance product this year. Slice will hand the distribution technology, as well and services and processing, using automated underwriting rules agreed upon by Munich Re so the carrier can back the product.

The agreement is being handled through Munich Re Digital Partners, a new global venture designed to "partner with disruptors who are changing the way insurance is experienced by customers," according to chief executive Andrew Rear.

"We are looking forward to helping Slice reimagine and redesign insurance to support the on-demand economy," Rear adds.
