NAIC Selects Arizona Regulator for Supervisory Forum

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has chosen Steve Ferguson, assistant director of the Arizona Financial Affairs Division, as the U.S. representative to the International Supervisory Forum.

Established by the Executive Committee of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), a group responsible for developing international standards and guidelines on insurance supervision, the forum will unite frontline regulators to address the supervision of insurance companies belonging to internationally active groups, says the NAIC.

The goal of the proposal was to enhance the effectiveness of supervision by engaging financial analysis experts from various jurisdictions on a variety of emerging risk issues, and the supervisory responses and techniques that can be used in practice to identify and respond to those issues, according to the NAIC.
