Nationwide expands Ting program
Nationwide is expanding its partnership with Whisker Labs to provide free Ting sensors and fire prevention services to 500,000 additional homes over the next two years. The expanded program builds on three years of existing operations that have protected nearly 80,000 homes and prevented more than 1,100 electrical fires for Nationwide members.
Ting is a smart sensor that plugs into outlets and uses AI to detect electrical arcs and faults that signal fire hazards. When a hazard is detected, Ting's Fire Safety Team works with homeowners to resolve the issue, coordinating with electricians and covering up to $1,000 in repairs. The device also provides power outage information and frozen pipe risk alerts. Nationwide agents can now add Ting directly to homeowner policies for eligible members through the Nationwide policy center.
"By offering Ting as part of our Smart Protection Suite, we're taking a proactive approach to fire prevention by helping members identify electrical hazards before they cause a fire and setting a new standard for home protection," said Casey Kempton, president of Personal Lines at
Eligible members who enroll receive a Ting sensor, the Ting app with alerts, five years of fire prevention service, a $1,000 repair credit, and frozen pipe and outage alerts at no cost.
