Not Standing Still

You know the drill—someone higher up in your organization requires that you reinvent yourself.

If leading the charge in the IT department, you might have that process down pat. Between the transparency demands placed on IT due to regulatory requirements, and demands from your distribution network and ultimate customers for continuous uptime, you are in a state of constant transformation.

The business side also faces unremitting pressure to remain in a continuous state of forward motion. New product mandates, for example, require innovation, agility, the ability to align with IT in order to get the job done—and the acceptance of risk. Once the job is done, you must be ready to continuously measure customer satisfaction and tweak the product to accommodate your customers’ needs. For IT and business folks, their alignment must result in delivery on that promise. There’s no letting up. However, the bottom line for insurers across all lines of business—and the business or IT areas that support them—is simple: If your organization is not moving forward and taking risks—it faces stagnation and certain obsolescence.

The key to reinvention, and the inherent risk that comes with it, is that change should be embraced not for the sake of change, but to deliver value. In this spirit, and running the risk of shameless self-promotion, the staff of Insurance Networking News is pleased to introduce a “reinvention” of our own. To meet the information needs of the ever-changing insurance industry, we have relaunched our Web site, www.insurancenetworking.com.

As an extension of our award-winning print publication, the vision and subsequent execution of this medium is a full year in the making, and its content is specific and targeted, based on two years of reader research. The site offers the same breaking news that links the business and IT communities, but now also offers a continuous flow of exclusive Web features, agent and insurance network channels, and access to related content from our sister publications in Sourcemedia’s Business Technology Group.

Also new to the site is INN’s Virtual Watercooler, which, based on reader responses, steps outside the immediate realm of technology to provide information on the inner workings of the industry. Here you’ll find legislative and regulatory updates, HR news, competitive intelligence on insurers’ new products, the latest M&A activities, and what’s hot (and what’s not) in the solution provider space.

We like to think of this section as the INN Extreme Makeover—our very own voluntary reinvention. We understand that there is certain risk in bringing a new product, such as the Virtual Watercooler, to market. This is where your responses will be key to our ability to continue to deliver the information you require. Please take a moment to visit us at www.insurancenetworking.com and provide us with feedback.
