Progressive Promotes New CIO After Voelker Retires

Progressive's longtime CIO Ray Voelker has retired, the company announced last week.

Voelker will be succeeded by Steve Broz, a 15-year veteran of the company who last worked as head of the enterprise project management office. He also has worked in customer experience, claims, and personal lines functions.

"I want to thank Ray for his exemplary leadership during his 30 years with Progressive. He was a valuable member of my team and helped Progressive transform many of the ways we offer insurance and connect with our customers," said Glenn Renwick, president, chairman and CEO of Progressive. "Throughout his tenure at Progressive, Steve has consistently shown the type of leadership, values and intellect that will enable him to effectively lead our IT organization and continue to execute our agenda of becoming consumers' number one choice for insurance. I am delighted to have him join our senior leadership team."

In his final year at Progressive, Voelker promoted big data initiatives at the company and was involved in the opening of its innovation lab, the Business Innovation Garage.
