In an attempt to right its financial ship, Hyderabad-based Satyam Computer Services Ltd., will eliminate 8,000 jobs, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The provider of software and BPO services to industries including insurance has been beset by woes since January when the company’s founder acknowledged overstating the firm’s earnings.

The scandal and the ensuing criminal probe have made client retention difficult. Two company officials told Bloomberg that many of the job cuts were due to a lack of available work.
