Study: Health Plan Sponsors Lack Tools

Health plan sponsors are ready to help workers make sound medical and financial choices, according to a recent employer survey. The problem is that many of these clients do not have the healthcare decision support tools to do so, notes Starmark, a Lake Forest, Ill., company that specializes in small group healthcare benefits and serves businesses with two to 50 employees.

"With many small business owners making the switch to consumer-directed healthcare plans, insureds are clamoring for helpful, informative tools they can use to help them make the best healthcare decisions for themselves and their family members," said Kim Croisant, second vice president, at Starmark.

Croisant's comments are in line with a release of its Healthy Foundations online toolset.

Available to all insureds with a Starmark-administered plan, the toolset includes Health information and interactive health management tools, including condition managers, reminders, information about diseases and conditions, detailed fitness and nutrition guidance and online fitness demonstrations, cost comparisons for both prescriptions and treatment.
