Sun Life Financial Launches New Variable Annuity Brand

WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. -- Sun Life Financial announced today that Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (U.S.) a member of the Sun Life Financial group of companies, has launched Sun Life Financial Masters, a re-branding of its variable annuity line.

"Sun Life Financial Masters will use a new integrated selling system designed to ease the annuity solution process," said Jack Donnelly, Vice President, Annuities. "This re-branding includes concise, modular selling materials that will help customers quickly find the feature they most need in language that is easy to understand.

"Our research with investment professionals from banks and national, regional and independent broker-dealer firms told us that in order to help investment professionals tailor an annuity solution that's right for their customers, we needed to find a way to explain features in the most user-friendly manner," added Donnelly. "Our goal with the transition to Sun Life Financial Masters is to make the annuity solution process easier for our consumers."

"Distinguishing oneself from the competition is key in any industry," said Bob Salipante, President, Sun Life Financial U.S.  "Sun Life Financial wants to help our distribution partners build their business, which means doing a better job at keeping the customer in mind as we create materials. These changes will strengthen our competitive position as we strive to be a top ten player in the variable annuity marketplace."

The Sun Life Financial Masters variable annuities offer five asset allocation models designed by Ibbotson Associates, Inc. "Having pre designed asset allocation models helps make understanding the diversification process simpler for customers. Ibbotson is highly regarded in the marketplace," said Donnelly.

The Sun Life Financial Masters variable annuities offer investment options from Franklin Templeton Investments, Lord Abbett, MFS Investment Management, Oppenheimer Funds, PIMCO, and Sun Capital Advisers.

The Sun Life Financial Masters variable annuity line was previously known as MFS Regatta Masters variable annuities. Sun Life Financial had closed its Futurity line of variable annuities to new business earlier this year in order to focus on the distribution of the Masters variable annuities among its selling companies.
