Verisk Forms Crime Analytics Division

Verisk Analytics Inc., a source of information about risk, has formed Verisk Crime Analytics. The division was created to reflect the company's recent growth in crime analytics as well as the market potential in this area.

According to Verisk, as a result of recent product launches and acquisitions, it now owns and operates national crime databases that provide services to the construction, retail, transportation, manufacturing and insurance industries. Those databases also support law enforcement operations. The assets of Verisk Crime Analytics include national databases for mobile equipment, cargo theft, organized retail crime and bank crime incidents.

Verisk says the division will help the company evolve its crime-related analytical tools into an integrated solution that can bridge public and private sectors. The private industry must become better at collaborating and sharing data with the public sector, the company added, and creating analytical crime prevention methods through a new breed of public-private partnerships.
