Stamford, Conn. - Dennis Callahan, CIO, Guardian Life Insurance of America, has joined The BTM Institute's Global Leadership Council as the organization amends its name to The Michael Nobel Harriet Fulbright Institute of Business Technology Management.

The Stamford, Conn.-based BTM Institute was founded in 2003 as the first international nonprofit organization of its kind that brings together industry and academic experts dedicated to providing global companies with a business paradigm shift to better manage technology's contribution to the corporate value chain. The BTM Institute brings together a select group from the academic, corporate, government and thought leadership communities that specialize in Business Technology Management (BTM) as a think tank to address the long-standing need for more effective strategic management of technology's contribution on an international scale.

The BTM standard, put forth by the BTM Institute, provides a structured approach to decision-making that allows enterprises to align, synchronize and even converge IT and business management, thus ensuring better execution, risk control and profitability.

Callahan joined Guardian, a $37.2 billion New York-based mutual life insurance company, in late 2000. As reported in the May 2005 issue of Insurance Networking News, one of Callahan's primary objectives is to align IT with the business.
