Boyle was president of John Hancock's U.S. insurance division. Before that he was president of its U.S. wealth management division. He is on the board of directors of John Hancock Trust and John Hancock Funds. He has worked at Manulife since 1992.

Hancock accounted for 58% of Manulife's $330 billion of assets under management at Dec. 31.
