Los Angeles-based Marshall & Swift / Boeckh (MS/B) will be acquired by MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., Richmond, B.C., Canada.MDA is a global information company providing property-specific information to businesses and governments. Operating through two groups Information Products and Information Systems, MDA is active in data collection, information extraction, and information distribution.
Combined with MDA's existing property information and valuation business in the mortgage services sector, including DataQuick, MS/B becomes part of a consortium of automated property valuation suppliers in North America.

MS/B is a worldwide provider of systems and data that helps property and casualty insurance companies determine insurance coverage amounts, identify undervalued properties, and estimate and analyze claims, as well as being the leading resource for the appraisal and assessor markets. MS/B's new relationship with MDA will provide increased opportunities with property-specific data that addresses the needs of insurance underwriting and claims, banking, real estate, tax assessment and construction, according to the companies.
As part of this merger, MS/B remains an independently operated business, maintaining independent management and product focus.
MS/B previously received major funding from Boston Ventures, a private equity firm that has been an active investor and financial partner to management teams in the business information, media, entertainment and communications sectors since 1983.
