Insurance carriers are working to improve digital quoting, according to the Keynova Q4 2025 Online Insurance Scorecard, which evaluates 12 U.S. auto and property insurance carriers' websites.
Beth Robertson, managing director, Keynova Group, said in a statement to Digital Insurance: "Another emerging capability seen in quoting, as well as in applications for some issuers' credit cards, is the use of third-party data to prefill basic applicant information.
"When initiating a quote with USAA, a prospect can provide a mobile number and the last 4-digits of their SSN to have personal data prefilled and access relevant records, minimizing data entry requirements. This can streamline quoting and underwriting, accelerating the sale of new policies."
Progressive scored first. Nationwide was second. USAA ranked third.
Half of the evaluated carriers provide a link or option for a new policyholder to access their ID card online, according to the report. More than half enable new policyholders to enroll for automatic payment.
More insights:
- Fewer than half of the carriers offer demos showing how to use their authenticated sites, and one-third provide FAQs for actions like paying a premium or filing a claim, according to the study.
- All of the evaluated carriers have keyboard or screen reader navigation through a quote form but two-thirds supply users a digital option for reporting accessibility issues.
- Most of the carriers offer agent or local office locators on their websites and 20% provide links within the agent profile to schedule appointments.
