Travelers hires new CIO from Liberty Mutual

Travelers has hired Mojgan Lefebvre as its new CIO, continuing a busy year for CIO turnover at large insurers.

Lefebvre had been SVP and CIO of Liberty Mutual's Global Specialty unit. She is taking over for Madelyn Lankton, who is retiring after a 36-year Travelers career.

“Mojgan has a proven track record of driving innovation and technological transformation across complex organizations,” said Alan Schnitzer, Travelers' chairman and CEO. “Her deep expertise, strategic orientation and collaborative approach make her a perfect fit for Travelers’ culture and vision of being the undeniable choice for the customer and an indispensable partner for our agents and brokers.”

LIke most insurers, Travelers has been investing heavily in digital technology and talent in recent months. The company hired its first chief data and analytics officer in Februrary. And, in March, the carrier launched Traverse, a digitally focused homeowners and renter's product targeting millenials.

Both Lefebvre and Lankton have been honored by Digital Insurance as Women in Insurance Leadership over their careers: Lefebvre last year and Lankton in 2008.
