Tweet This: System to Track Leaks Via Social Media

SunGard Data Systems said it introduced a mechanism for tracking leaks of company information through social media.

The capital markets software supplier said its Protegent Social Media Surveillance product will help organizations watch for "content that may breach internal communication and privacy policies.''

The social media surveillance system will monitor and archive content posted to social networking Web sites, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, regardless of the device used to make the posts.

That, it said, will help firms "efficiently manage supervisory regulatory obligations and enforce internal social media policies by providing automated pre-approval workflows and robust reporting and alerting.''

With this surveillance, financial services firms can manage social media requirements from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority by "utilizing tools for moderation and pre-approval of content that may be considered advertisement.''

Protegent Social Media Surveillance is the result of a partnership between SunGard and SiteQuest Technologies Inc., a provider of social media Web archiving tools.
